La maison XVIII belongs to the series “La maison”. The painting shows a fragment of a rural building: a green roof plane, dark beams and a black edge, reduced to a few broad areas of colour.
From canvas to canvas, the series returns to the forms of vernacular architecture. For Sébastien Bonin, this repetition is a method: it is through repetition that a traditional form is preserved and passed on.
