Let us wipe
the past clean — but
gather the grain
Les glaneuses is a large oil painting. Two women in long white skirts, seen from behind, carry their bags across a landscape built in large flat areas of ochre, grey and blue.
Gleaning, gathering what remains in the fields after the harvest, is one of the oldest rural practices. Sébastien Bonin takes up this motif of art history and of peasant life as a gesture of transmission and of shared memory.
